What a wheek!
As some of you may know, earlier this month our Humans received an email from the producer of KCOY Central Coast News in Santa Maria, California.
Our interview on @KCOY Morning Show is back on! Tune in Tues 5-28 at 5:30am Pacific to hear Human #1 give our 1st on-air interview. Squee!!

While not entirely unexpected, as HappyCavy receives its fair share of media requests, this one was different.
The email was an invitation for Human #1 and the HappyCavy Herd to bring their live broadcasts to the early morning viewers of the KCOY Central Coast News program.
Needless to say, we are just as surprised as you that guinea pigs make for good early morning TV. After announcing our interview, a friend of ours even took to Twitter, making sure that this wasn’t some sort of strange, elaborate joke.
@happycavy u kidding me??

As it turns out, guinea pigs waking up in the morning are of greater interest to the folks who live on the Central California Coast than we ever would have expected. And we think that’s just swell!
The Interview
Our live interview was conducted at 5:30am Pacific Time on Tuesday, May 21. During the brief question-and-answer session, Human #1 introduced KCOY to HappyCavy while the live webcam streams splashed across the screen.
It was a fun and light-hearted interview and we were thrilled to have had the chance to share HappyCavy with our friends in Central California!
Watch the live interview below then tell us how you think we did!
I love this blog/website. I have three guinea pigs and just adopted my third one today! This is a perfect way to learn more about guinea pigs.
Thanks for your comment, Taryn! It’s nice to meet you, er, *wheek * you? 🙂 You made our day brighter!
Hi happycavy! I love your site, I just got a guinea pig a few days ago and his name is bandit. He is two months old and is very cute. I’m very grateful that you made the section on what they can eat. What would you suggest for mine since he’s a baby?
Hi, Nicholas and Bandit! Guinea pigs under 6 months of age should have alfalfa pellets and alfalfa hay. When a guinea pig reaches 6 months of age, they should be switched to timothy hay pellets and hay. Young guinea pigs can eat the same vegetables and forage an adult cavies can; the major different is alfalfa vs. timothy hay.
