About JuneBug the Guinea Pig

Updated: 11/26/2024

JuneBug crossed the rainbow bridge on November 26, 2024, after almost 7 happy years in this world. Her sister, Baby Roo, and adopted sister, Annie, were by her side.

On September 5, 2024, JuneBug was diagnosed with an aggressive lymphoma. And she was so brave when she lost the ability to use her back legs a week ago on November 19. She will be greatly missed from the HappyCavy Herd.

Run free again, Miss JuneBug. We love you.

More About JuneBug: Where I Live, What I Eat
My Friends: Baby Roo, Annie

JuneBug the guinea pig was adopted by HappyCavy on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, along with her sister, Baby Roo, from PGPR, a Portland-Oregon based network of volunteers.

JuneBug was Baby Roo’s bigger sister — they almost looked like twins — and, during her time with us, she was forever keeping an eye out to make sure Baby Roo kept out of trouble. Sometimes, JuneBug was successful in her big sister role, but other times her calm, steady leadership was no match for her sister’s sudden bursts of energy.

A few years after JuneBug joined HappyCavy, she developed pea eye, a common and usually harmless guinea pig eye condition.

For more details about JuneBug’s pea eye, see What’s Guinea Pig Pea Eye and How to Treat It.

JuneBug was a quiet and shy girl, but when it was time for cuddles, she was very affectionate and loved a good, steady pet between her eyes and ears. JuneBug was the bravest of the herd, and if there was a loud noise or a new toy the Humans put in the cage, JuneBug was the first to explore until Baby Roo and Annie would join in.
